GOENCHO AVAZ 2008

Special Issue of Goencho Avaz hits the news stands

The special issue of Goencho Avaz is out on the stands. Edited by the renowned journalist Julio D’Silva, this issue (published in English and Konkani in the Roman script) takes a critical look at the progress made by Goa ever since it attained Statehood with special articles on different aspects written by people involved in that particular field.

Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar takes a critical look at the administration while Ex-Tourism Minister Matanhy Saldanha writes about the constant struggles of the traditional fishermen. Former Education Department Director Bonfilio da Cruz has written about the education system, Soter R. Barreto on Konkani language and Soter de Souza about the functioning of the Panchayats in Goa.

Dr. Jorson Fernandes has written about the health care system in Goa, while Prakash Kamat has analysed the State’s economy. Maria Lourdes Bravo da Costa takes a look at the changes in the Goan kitchen and Wilson Mazarello has written about the tiatr. Jaret de Silva’s article covers the life of a seaman and Felix da Cruz comments on agriculture in the State.

Besides there are articles in Roman Konkani by the stalwarts John Aguiar, Sudha Amonkar, Guadalupe Dias and Fausto V. Da Costa on various other topics, a short story by Tukaram Shet, and the prize winning articles at the competition organized by Fr. Freddy J da Costa Memorial Trust.
